New Headers for my 78 roadster

So I'm finally getting around to the 78 Rover V8 MGB roadster that has been occupying space in my garage for the past year.
There are a few rust issues but my number one issue is with the block hugger headers. The engine has a Holy carb and the clearance between the bonnet
and the air cleaner has been an issue. There is no room to go down into the engine compartment because of the headers and the steering shaft.
I feel the RV8 style headers through the inner fenders is the best solution and will aid in cooling as well. I have done a little research and digging around and
felt that the headers offered by MGOC manufactured by Double S Exhaust would be the winner. Not to be! apparently MGOC is resorting and these are currently not available. I haven't reached out to Double S yet, rather thought I would begin here. Is there a comparable header available? How does the Moss RV8 header compare? Am I splitting hairs on performance, my engine has a mild cam and engine work I can't help but think almost anything is going to breath better than the block huggers.

The block huggers can't be that bad in terms of moving air. Mike Moor's Buick 300 MGB was dyno'd at 306 RWHP using his old 215 block hugger headers. Not saying that he couldn't have possible done better with big bore RV8 headers.

Shawn,

If you want Stainless RV8 you could try Clive Wheatley for good headers. I used ones from another UK supplier and the quality was less than acceptable. (flanges don't line up with head ports).
By the time you get mild steel ones from the USA and have them coated its about the same costs as the stainless.

Stainless is fine but it will discolor over time. The ceramic coating is a pretty good insulator for how thin it is and makes a noticeable difference in the heat.

I prefer the ceramic coated for what Jim mentioned, engine bay heat reduction. Mine are a couple of months shy of 18 years old.
