hood clearance
Hi all, further to post on manifold height, have a look and see my solutions
What do you think? i'm inclined to go for the scoop as opposed to the bulge, intend to have it fabbed up in aluminium and tig welded to the hood. Nigel |

Re: hood clearance
Nigel,
Here's another option. I took a C bonnet and relieved it about an inch at the rear, then glassed it back in. Of your two options, I actually prefer the bulge to the scoop. It flows better to may eye. You can see how I did it here: [tempusfugitgarage.com] David |

Re: hood clearance
The bulge was my first choice too but as the rv8 bulge has to be raised about 15mm by the time it was blended in it looked very big to my eyes,i did'nt actually take a pic of it before i took it off, david i assume your c hood is fibreglass,i had a c hood in aluminium but as they are pretty rare now i could'nt bear to cut it about so i sold it to someone doing a c restoration. For some reason i want a metal hood pref aluminium, i also have a brand new RV8 hood but as it is steel it's heavy,i copied the scoop shape from an aston martin db5 hood,i think by the time it is made in aluminium it will look ok and will get some air to the 4 barrel tb

Re: hood clearance
Correct on the glass C hood. I would also be reluctant to carve up an original aluminum hood, if I had one.
