A phenolic spacer would be quite routine to prevent heat & fuel evaporation problems.
[www.summitracing.com] Maybe yours doesn't have one precisely to avoid hood clearance issues. There is an Offy manifold, the JWR/Offenhauser which is low rise. High torque. [www.woolfe.com] That's the one I'm using. Air cleaners come in various thicknesses. I bought a 3" for my Rover V8, it was too tall, so I went to a thinner one. How thick is yours? Ivor |

A closer look shows that the linkage juuuust clears the valve cover. And that the problem for the secondaries not opening was a stretched or slipped throttle cable. Re adjusted and all is right with the world.

If you have a cable, it's a good idea to protect it with an adjustable pedal stop. The design can be extremely simple. Typically, a strategically placed bolt and two nuts will do the trick.
IMHO, a proper throttle linkage is a very worthwhile upgrade. |

Quote: Too right. Otherwise the cable will eventually break. Mind you, if the pedal stop is attached to the pedal rather than the floor, that can have issues too. I recall a significant improvement in performance from removing multiple layers of carpet from under the stop. Ivor |
