Coolant spewing from the overflow

Just did a first start on a 3.4 that I am running with distributor and Edelbrock manifold and Holley 390CFM carb . I have the 77-80 MGB radiator with no filler cap. Too fill it I took the upper heater hose off and filled the hose going into the intake. I think when I had this setup on my other car with fuel injection I filled it until coolant came out of the heater. On this one I never managed to get coolant out of the heater and decided it was full when coolant started coming out of the hose to the expansion tank. When I started the car I had a steady stream of coolant coming out of the expansion tank overflow hose. I have the heater valve open, new 185 thermostat and 13 lb cap. Am I dealing with overfill, air, blockage or something else.
Thanks, John

Oh dear.

So, is the heater core above the fill point or below it?

The tank is overflowing when the engine's hot, or sooner?

Presume the cap is the correct height for the filler neck.

Are there any air bleeds on the hoses that would help get air out?

When I first bought my Rambler, it boiled over from cold in less than two minutes, from wrong timing wrong fuel pressure wrong mixture.

But I reckon you have an air lock.

Ivor
