Anyone found the bits to mate the GM 6L50 auto transmission to a Rover V8? I'm not worried about tunnel space in my '79 MGBGT. This is a transmission used in our VF Commodore so fairly easy to source here.

I'm searching for the bits - flexplate, possibly a torque converter and various "electrics" so although no responses I think I'm good.

Not many here use an auto box. Would be good if you share what you figure out to make this work.

If you go over to MGE Swaps Rob you'll read that I've headed down the "collect information on GM 4L60-E". Although I'd prefer a later box it seems finding a controller is difficult plus the 5L40 and the 6L50 appear not to have a separate bellhouse. Dellow here in AU say they have a RV8 to 4L60 bellhouse. I'm learning there's an awful lot of stuff not to mention $ in going from a manual (in my case T5) to an auto box but I may be forced to. Fortunately it's not too late to change.

What's the issue that's forcing the change?

I have a BW66 behind my RV8, but that may be too old-skool for you and of course it's not o/d.

Ivor

Unfortunately it's nerve damage in my left foot. At present I can't operate the clutch safely on my Mk1. IDK if the damage will repair itself or it's more permanent. BW66 is an option for the Mk1 but not what I'd want for my GT.

If you're not reading on MGE the best bet so far is a 2piece casing GM4L60E - I can get a bellhouse here from Dellow to mate that to my Rover. As some here aren't on MGE Swaps I posed the following question: is there a 4L60E with a tiptronic function rather than 1,2,3,D?

As the 4L60E is an electronically controlled automatic. Your going to need an ECU to run it.
Lots of vendors available for that and most, such as TCI, offer a paddle shift option.

Yeah since posting about the tiptronic function I now understand that the Quick 4 controller from usshift plus a lokar shifter gives me tiptronic. This is all a steep learning curve for me.
