MGB DOORS
Last week a lady backed in to my 73B crushing the passenger door .I am trying to find a new door,no luck.
I used a 1980 shell when I did my conversion. What was different after 1973 with the doors? Thanks Mike |

Re: MGB DOORS
Not sure when the crash bar internal to the door began....but (other than roadster vs GT) I think they are interchangable from 1968 on. Interior panels differed.
Disclaimer......I could be wrong. |

Re: MGB DOORS
Pretty sure Rick is right. Moss only lists two versions -- pull handle & push button.

Re: MGB DOORS
Moss and British Victoria list only up to 1973.None for 1974-1980.Are the door latchs different?

Re: MGB DOORS
Sorry, didn't notice the 73-on were N/A. If it helps, I currently have latches & striker plates from a '72, '74, & '76 in my garage & they appear the same. I think the only difference in push button doors is whether they had the side impact piece & the doors from the '74 parts car I bought have them so 73 was probably the transition year.

Re: MGB DOORS
Early push button doors had the inside door release handle located closer to the wing vent. This changed with the 1968 model year to the location and style most of us are familiar with.

Re: MGB DOORS
Thanks for the info. I think I understand the difference.1974 had the crash bar added ,so to comply with USA regulations
Moss or British Vic. will not sell it as a rubber bumper car door. Thanks Mike |

Re: MGB DOORS
The doors with the crash bar also had an additional catch below the main latch. This fits into a post in a re3cessed pocket in the door frame on the later cars . The early doors will fit the later cars, and the later doors with the crash bars will fit the early cars if the extra catch is removed.
