Moss Europe MGC fiberglass bonnet
Posted by: kerbau53

Has anyone had any experience with Moss Europes fiberglass products? Specifically the MGC bonnet. Catalog says the unit comes with the frame but no pics. I'm looking for a slightly less pricey alternative to aluminum if possible. I understand Morspeed has stopped production, at least for the time being. I'm also interested in front and rear valances.

Thanks.

Not sure where in the world you are but the Moss Europe bonnet may come from Honeybourne Mouldings or Smith & Deakin.

[www.honeybournemouldings.co.uk] Honeybourne list both with the frame £92 or skin only £50.

[www.smithanddeakin.co.uk] Smith and Deakin list both as well at £137.85 and £86.25.

I do not know how the quality compares from one to the other.

Thx David. I'm in Malaysia but the car is in the US. Will follow up on these 2 sites.

If you're not particularly committed to the MGC shape, Dave Craddock of Preform Resources offers fiberglass RV8-style bonnets. IMHO fit and finish appear to be superior. Shipping will probably be cheaper since they're made in Michigan. $395 for ready-to-install or $185 for just the skin. Here are snapshots I took of the ready-to-install version during BritishV8 2010:

I like the hood, too bad the cost to pop them out in steel would be sky high. I would be cool to have the valances in steel also.

We have two hoods left over from the MGB-Roadmaster project, one NOS fiberglass like Kelly Stevenson's (raised MGC style) and one aluminum, if you're interested. I think we can give you a good price.

OK. My email is Jim@BlackwoodLabs.com
Right now both hoods are at Pete's place in Sydney, Ill but we plan to pick up the spares the second weekend of September. I can get you photos then and we can discuss price and shipping.
