front suspension for v6
I have a 62 mga that im putting a 258 Buick 4.1 v6 in. What pound front spring should I put in if I keep stock front suspension. Id love to change to coilover, but its just not in the budget. Should i add exterior mount shocks or get new armstrongs?

Re: front suspension for v6
Try the original springs first and see how it sits. If you need to go a bit stiffer then you can try the springs from an early MGB GT, then the next stiffest and a bit longer are the springs from a RB roadster, and finally the RB GT springs are the longest and stiffest. I have a chart on my computer at work with all the spring rates and free lengths, I'll post it tomorrow.
As for the shocks, if they need to be rebuilt I'd recommend sending them to Peter Caldwell at World Wide Auto Parts. He rebuilds them actually better than new and at a very reasonable price. [www.nosimport.com] |
