Fuel System Opinions.

What is the general consensus on upgraded fuel systems. Will the stock MG fuel tank pickup handle a V8 upgrade? A 3/8" fuel line is close to the stock size. What have V8ers found?
I think a mild carburated V8 will not be a worry but high horse power FI's might get starved.

I'll be interested to see what others say. I talked with a couple of folks with Ford 302's & indication I got was stock pickup allowed plenty of flow.

Fuel injection: 3/8 line to system, 5/16" line return- constant flow.

Most carbs on cars under a given BHP, Lets say under 300(?): Dead headed fuel flowing in one direction, never a drop in pressure Should be able to use a 5/16" feed line.

Correct me if I am wrong, but quite a few high BHP cars with 3.8 feed line to a FI motor run pretty good. These are minimums. Also, if you go with a 3/8" line to the front, the tank line is a 5/16" so its a bit of a bottle neck, but again, i dont think you need to worry. We have pulled FI motors out of this without issue due to size.

According to Poisueille's equasion, flow resistance at constant pressure goes up by the FOURTH POWER of the tubing radius. A 3/8 diameter tube has 1/2 the flow resistance per foot that 5/16 inch tube has. Thus it is clear that tubing diameter is much more important than length.
If you have any question about the fuel supply capability, simply measure it. One smart measurement is worth far more than a bunch of dumb conjecture.

just cked the web-site Hardcore 5.0 and they have fuel pump calcuator using the flywheel HP. accordingly, a 315 FWHP car (my is in this range (266RWHP), it take 25.4 gal/hour WOT. i have both 5/16" pressure and return with no problem. the system is Ford EFI with a Kirban Adj. pres. reg @39 PSI. my pump will a GM Module from a 99 Malibu with a capacity of 30 gph. it can be upgraded to larger pump if needed. the new system is almost ready to fire up. Brian, did you complete you GM module system?
