Edelbrck 500 carby rod & jet selection
In the near future ,I'll be swapping the 3.5 ltr. block of my Rover engine for a 4.6 ltr. version.I'll be using the same Buick manifold & the Edelbrock 500 carby.
Can anyone advise as to what rod & jet combination I should start with ? |

Hi Barrie!
It's been a looong time. Good to see ya here. I can't help with your carb rejetting as I'm still runing my tired ol' 215. Just wanted to say hello. |

Re: Edelbrck 500 carby rod & jet selection
Hi Carl, thanks for remembering me. I still post occasionally on the Enthusiast club BBS & I still manage to put my foot in my mouth occasionally. I can't make it to TN. (god's own country ?) next year. My wife has this knack of booking us on one of her "bucket list" cruises which always seem to clash with V8 Meet. Regards, Barrie

Who could forget!
(BritishV8 2006: Barrie Egerton on left, Barrie Robinson on right) Unfortunately I can't help with jet selection either... but I know just who to ask! Why not use this board's Private Message system to get in touch with Jack Renaud? Since the 2006 meet, he has also swapped a 3.5 for a 4.6, and Jack also uses an Edelbrock 500. His UserName here is "kayakjack" and you can reach him most easily by visiting his How It Was Done page, clicking on that username where it appears, and then clicking on the words "Send a Private Message" where they appear in his Profile page. Re: Edelbrck 500 carby rod & jet selection
I have the same question. I had an Edelbrock 500 on my T-Bucket which was grossly under size so decided to buy a new one for the bucket and put the 500 on my stock 302 in the B-GT. I have an assortment of jets but would rather not go through the trial and error method if possible.

This is a reply to my query on another BBS. It might be of help. Barrie E
Guys I have the Edelbrock 1404 on my 4.6 and also have an innovate wideband and guage too. Primaries need to be an 86 jet with 67/55 rods secondary jets need to go down one size from the 95 to whatever the next size down is (92 I think). You will need to experiment with the step up springs for fine tuning if you have a flat spot. These settings have remained the same throughout the engine improvements 282bhp up to the present 326bhp. A fantastic carb and so easy to set up. |
