The "Racine" MGB V6 is stunning and spectacular!
We've just rolled-out a brand new edition of British V8 magazine. You've probably seen "sneak peeks" of some of the cars from links in this forum - but I held this ace card close to my chest. It's just so cool and unusual! Dan Root's MGB-based special was re-bodied with modified, classic ('34, '36, '38 and '39) Ford panels.
Dan Root's custom-bodied MGB V6 - "How It Was Done" article (42 photos) I'm curious to hear your comments about this amazing car. p.s. Make sure to tell your friends about this new edition of "British V8". Where else will they find a car like this? What other magazine would display 42 color photos to tell the whole story of its construction? p.p.s. Special thanks to Bill Young for introducing me to Dan, and to Dan's daughter Sally for helping with all the electronic communications to bring the article together. |

Re: The "Racine" MGB V6 is stunning and spectacular!
Here's a particularly trick construction detail!
The original MGB bonnet was used as a boot lid, and the original MGB boot lid was flipped upside down and used as the splash apron (i.e. the bottom of the trunk...) - what makes this even more "trick" is that the original boot release pushbutton (with keyed lock cylinder) still functions! |

Dan, the car & your workmanship are awesome. Even my wife (who only sort of gets the hobby) was totally impressed. She read through the article & spent a lot of time looking at the pics. Her comment when she finished was a simple "Wow!"
Congrats on an awesome job & result! Rob |

Custom sleek looking MGB. A one of a kind car. You would never know it was a MGB under the skin until the facts came out.
That's what I call a work of art on four wheels. Nice job Dan! Calvin |

I was fortunate to be able to meet Dan when the car was in the primer stage and see first hand the amazing amount of fabrication on the car. He still had the MGB 1800 engine in the car at that time as well. Dan is an amazing builder and designer as well as a really nice guy.

Aw shucks guys - it's not that difficult to upload nineteen photos...
Just kidding, of course! Seriously, what I like best about Dan's car is how many nifty little tricks he included. The custom-made badges, for example, were made using casting materials and equipment from Dan's dental business (and real gold!) I had the opportunity to ride in Dan's car at the meet. It was a really delightful ride! That hood is pretty awesome to sit behind. |
