Using the stock temp gauge with a 5.0

My question is just as the title says, I want to use the stock oil/temperature gauge I have figured out how to use the stock oil part of the gauge, However I do not know where to tap into the engine coolant system on a 1990 5.0 mustang engine. I could tap into the coolant passage on the intake where a temperature sensor already exist, I could go between the engine and the heater core or I could go up by the radiator. Where do I tap into the coolant system and why? What location gives me the best indication of engine temperature.

Thanks again in advance for any help that is suggested.

You've answered your own question - it's where the system coolant runs the hottest ...right before the thermostat!

Thank you I was thinking that was the best spot, However, I was not sure and wanted someone to confirm it for me. Thank you!
