Electronic speedo conversion
I have a friend whose BGT stripped the speedo drive gear. Not the driven gear, but the spiral gear that lives inside the overdrive. This B has air, cruise, etc and to replace the plastic gear means, well, you all know what's involved.
We were talking last night and I mentioned that I've seen Smiths speedos converted to electronics, I don't remember where, and that would be a lot simpler way to go. I called Woody at Nisonger and he has one but it's $289 and may require a pulse generator at an additional $98. He wasn't sure if the cruise control magnetic pickup would work. Does anyone know of other sources of a stock-appearing electronic speedometer? He doesn't want to just stick a VDO in there. Thanks, David PS It's a '72 with an 80mm gauge. Edited 1 time(s).
