Front ARB clearance to Fan
Gentlemen,
I'm having a problem with having enough clearance between the 65 Mustang radiator in my 79 MGB and the front ARB. The ARB is behind the radiator by about 1/2". However, the bottom of the radiator is a good 5" below the ARB. There isn't room to put a fan between the ARB and the radiator. I can only get a 10" fan in above the ARB and below the top of the radiator and I'm having overheat problems. I want to be able to put in a full 16" fan but the ARB is in the way. This is in my Folvo 2.3 Turbo conversion. I've looked through the project builds and don't really see any details in this area. What have others done? Run without an ARB? I really don't want to do that. |

You can get more clearance by spacing the Anti Roll Bar down...
... or by shifting the radiator further forward... ... or even by curving the Anti Roll Bar for extra clearance... |

Great pictures Curtis!
I can't go forward easily without some SIGNIFICANT work on the intercooler and all of its piping. I like the idea of using rectangular tubing like that. I probably need to drop the bar about 3". I rolled under thcar and looked at that. I think I'll also want to shorten the vertical links on the lower A-arm to pull the bar attachment under the tie rod ends. Thanks for the ideas! |
