Historic Race Cars Modsports MGBV8 v Sundeam Tiger V8

We run a Historic Race Car Modsports MGBV8,its pretty radical chucking out over 400bhp but we want to beat the many Sunbeam Tigers who intend to compete against us in the new HMSA revival race series.
For years we have been restricted to only using original period units on the car to keep it eligible for Historic events, but these hampered our development to compete and beat the many other V8 Tigers,MGs and Jags.
So it is with delight that a new club has been formed for all of us Modified MG race cars allowing us to use modern technology systems on Historic Race Cars.
HMSA Historic Modsports and Saloon Association www.historicmodsportsandsaloons.com
Now we have replaced some of our old units with modern systems and at last our lap times have improved over the Modsports Sunbeam Tigers.
We have a lot of questions to ask the forum with regards improving the MGBV8 especially the gearbox unit.

Hi Peter - welcome to the BritishV8 message board!

I've sent you a "private message" with a few ideas (and also a note about uploading photos that are labeled "copyright" - we can't leave them displayed here unless we can document somehow that we have permission from each respective copyright owner...)

I particularly want to invite HMSA car owners to share photos of their racecars in our "BritishV8 Photo Gallery" - we're preparing to add a brand new section specifically for race cars, and they'd fit it perfectly!

With regard to transmission options... there are obviously many. A racing-spec version of the Borg-Warner T5 has been used successfully on this MGB GT V8 racercar: [www.britishv8.org] - its owner very strongly prefers it to the LT77 options. Tremec makes even heavier duty variants of the T5 design, but they're heavier.
