Turned out pretty well for a driveway paint job.

Will finish buffing in a month or so and give it a good waxing.

Gorgeous! You have to be really pleased to be passing this phase of your build. How many years since you pulled out your saw?

I'm impressed!.....love to see it driven out to the Midwest for one of our annual gatherings.
I know that it never rains in Southern California, but do you have a solution/plans for those rare days of inclement weather?

Scott - The point of no return occurred during Christmas vacation of 2000. You are right - glad to be past the painting phase, not my favorite thing to do.

Graham - The car has been a true roadster since about 1974. I was much younger then and I drove it regardless of the weather. Being much older and slightly wiser now (and having alternate enclosed transportation), it only goes out to play in sunny weather.

And what a hoot to ride in the Wide MG

How many speeding citations do you expect this summer now that it'd racer red?

After 17 years of staring at it, building many variations of cardboard patterns, re-doing several parts that made it into metal but needed to be changed and parading my friends past it with instructions to point out everything no matter how pick, I think I'm happy with the final form. Is it perfect? No it is not. This has been a learning experience and I tried to make everything as well as I could at the time. If I were starting over I could produce a much finer vehicle but I have already done this car. If I ever do another, I would expect that the finished product would be better than this one. I should sit down soon and write out a list of all the modifications I made to the car. Might be interesting to see everything that was "touched" in the process.

Might be easier to list the things that were not touched. Leastways that's what I've discovered.
Sure wish I could see it in person.

Jim Stabe's comment "I think I'm happy with the final form. Is it perfect? No it is not. This has been a learning experience and I tried to make everything as well as I could at the time. I took 10 years, and am currently in the process of redoing some things I felt had to be done. I believe now, that when someone finds fault (especially someone who hasn't done the same), I'll just go deaf and ignore what I've heard rather than be offended.

Jim, you are clearly mad, but a mad genius! That is an amazing work of art. Thank you for showing us some of the upper limit of what can be accomplished!
