Mgb chassis strengthening ideas
Does anyone have any ideas for structural strengthening when doing a v8 conversion? I am putting a very well build 302 into a 74 roadster, and I just want to make sure the unibody is up to handle the 375-400 hp I will be putting in the car. The last thing I ever want to worry about in the car is completing the project and end up with a twisted frame. I have already bought upgraded suspension/drivetrain components (fast cars ifs/cce 4 link rear/ford8.8 etc.). I also have already repaired any rust and added rear subframe connectors from mid frame to the front leaf spring perches now going to be used for the 4 link setup. I plan on making this car a very nice street car, but also be able to drive it very hard reliably, and potentially take it to a track. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Quote: That's a pretty stout 302 if that's RWHP. Would love to hear what you're doing to get that. |

That is the crank horsepower, haven't built the car yet so yet to put it on a dyno to test rwhp. It is a custom built roller engine with a custom cam AFR heads and lot of other goodies, also might add a nitrous system for the fun of it to get maybe 500 or high 400's.

The MGB is a fairly stout unibody. What you have already done will go a long ways to making it even stronger. I also like the additional front outriggers in the link by Jim N. Someone else did that mod many years ago (can't remember who). A roll cage will do the most.
