Servo Assisted Brakes

In my 79 B conversion (3.9L), the brakes are softer when engine running, than when shut off. I've heard this could be a problem with the servo unit. Better to repair servo, or convert to a non-servo Master Cylinder?

Sounds normal to me. Mine's a '79, I've always thought the brakes had a mushy feel. It's the power assist. My dad's '63 doesn't feel anything like that. I may disconnect the booster to see if I like it better.

Exactly the reason that I got rid of the power assist and went to a standard manual braking system.
