Carburated 3.1 or 3.4 Chevy V6

I will like to keep simple my project + I understand cardureted engines. No experince with computer cars.
Can I make a 3.1 or 3.4 60' Chevy engine to carburator? Can I use for this the manifold sold by Edelbrock for the 2.8 V6 60'?
If I can converted to carburator, do I need to use 4 barrel or it will do well with a 2 barrel, this car is my daily drive.
Thanks

Luis, you can certainly use a carb on a 3.1 or 3.4 as long as you have the iron heads. That's the only head I know of that has a manifold available suitable for a carb. You could use the early S10 intake designed for a 2 barrel or Throttle body or a later MPFI manifold with one of the carb adaptors from Bill Guzman at Classic Conversions. You'll need the early S10 distributor as well, and those are getting hard to come by I hear. The later distributors from the MPFI cars had the advance curve completely controlled by the computer and thus don't work well with a carb. I think you could also use the distributor from an early Chevy Citation as these were also throttle body cars and I believe still had a combination of vacuum and centrifugal advance. Either of the two Edlebrock manifolds shown in their catalog for the 2.8 should fit with iron heads. I recommend you talk to Bill G about the carb choices, he's got the experience and know how.

Your best bet is to contact Bill Guzman at Classic Conversions Engineering.
or send Bill a PM on this site
He has an installation kit for the 3.1/3.4 Chevy engine in an MGB and can answer your specific questions on carb vs FI.
