Rover five speed trans

How do you check the oil level? Also what type of auto trans fluid should I use?

Just like a late-model MGB 'box with the side fill. Top up until it starts to dribble out the opening. Fill hole is on the left side of 'box just about in-line with the drain plug.

I use Dexron III in my 5-speed. So far no problems.
