new member !
Morning ya'll~!!
I am a new member to this site and naturally I have a ton of questions lol. I have an 80 model triumph spitfire that I want to convert to V8 power. I recently purchased a 62 buick 215 V8 to make that happen. I would really love to hear from people who have done this conversion. I would like to know any helpful hints that you wish to share with me. Any information wouuld be extremely helpful at this point. Currently I have the body off the frame, rear end out, engine out,transmission/driveshaft out and ready to start mock up of this project. I am particulary interested in what was used for radiators/motor mounts/transmission mounts/oil pans/remote oil filter units/ and anything else you can share lol. Thank you VERY much for your help ! Re: new member !
Welcome and join in the fun!
I hope you have taken a look at "how it was done" [www.britishv8.org] ( about 14 different Spits) Check out Carsten's ride. [www.britishv8.org] or are you going the other direction with something like Deryle's [www.britishv8.org] Most will do there own fabrication or modifications on motor mounts. A good resource is Spitfire & GT6 Magazine website on engine swaps. [www.triumphspitfire.com] Try talking to Tim Willis of Willow Triumph in Durham. He has a 3.5 Spit. www.willowtriumph.com Also try the Yahoo group [autos.groups.yahoo.com] where hybrid Spits are normal. Not that I'm trying to take you away from here, but each and every car and car owner has his or her own style, approach, and personal method of getting things done, different ideas! So, use all the possible resources for research. |
