I've been searching around, and i really cant manage to find out any info if anyone using the dual master cyl is running a servo or some type of booster application (vac or hydro). And if anyone has acctually upgraded their master with a better unit (on the spits) (more volume baby yeah!)

I have a set of rx7 4 piston calipers and since i'm in the process of setting up a e36 diff in the rear i'll be using e36 brakes.

the stock master just wont cut it, and i'd light a slightly lighter pedal feel.

i appreciate it guys, just want to see if this paths been paved.

Which Master cylinder are you using? On my 79 spit I am using the stock Triumph master cylinder with RX7 GXL disk brakes all the way around. This includes the four piston calipers you are using and the single piston caliper in the rear. These are the big brakes the RX7 came with, 11 inch front and 10 inch rear. I have not had a problem and the pedal feel isn't bad. That's the only information I have. You may want to try it with the BMW calipers before changing the master cylinder. Just a thought. I have a writeup in the Triumph section if you are interested in my setup.

You wouldnt happen to be able to aquire another spindle adapter would you? or a cad drawing of some sort?

I'm using the stock triumph dual master (1976) right now.

How well does the car stop now?


Do you have more in dept of your rear irs and the rest of the car? Where would you have gone different?

I machined the spindles my self and took measurements directly from the old spindle for the tapered part that goes in the upright and from the RX7 spindle which I got at a junk yard.

The braking is excelent. I was at a test and tune at a road course and once the tires were warmed up, I almost could not lock up the brakes. The harder I pressed on the pedal the quicker it decelerated.

My writeup should cover most of what I did. Did you have specific questions?

The only thing I would do different is I would have used the T-bird IRS instead of the RX7. It has more options for gear ratios.

Let me correct my self. I would have used the differential from the T-bird IRS. The rest of the rear suspension I would not change.

i may be missing something, but is your write up the same thing as the list page?? i cant navigate this site to save my life..

so your using a complete rx7 spindle..... hows your bumpity steer?

ah, ok, i see max, did you run your spindle adapter on a lathe or a 4 axis?

The write up is in the Photo gallery in the Triumph section. But it appears you found it.

Yup, on my old Atlas lathe. It's small but it worked and took longer than if I had a decent shop grade lathe. If you plan on doing this pay attention to the alloy you use. ETD 150 is what I used. It is a machinable high strength steel. I have over 20,000 miles on my conversion and no problems with the suspension.

Info on the alloy below:

Another high strength material made by Niagara LaSalle's patented "e.t.d."® (elevated temperature drawing) process. Eliminates heat treating and secondary operations such as straightening, finish grinding, cleaning, and inspections. "e.t.d." 150® can be roll threaded, knurled and plated. Suitable for induction hardening. "e.t.d." 150® is also electro-magnetically tested using induced eddy currents.
