John, I can't say for sure, I think there are some fairly minor differences, but from what I've seen I believe it will work.

Re: 3.8 front wheel dr buick
You can use them. The major difference is the front cover and water pump. It's shorter than the rear drive versions. You will need to fabricate motor mounts anyway. The mounting bosses on the block should be the same, but the metal brackets will be different. The Buick is not a direct bolt in onto a TR7 subframe. Not sure what the Joh'ns Cars conversion consists of in the way of engine mounts. Do you have a plan for the transmission, clutch, driveshaft, tranny mounts, exhaust, etc.

Re: 3.8 front wheel dr buick
Thanks for response.I think the easiest way I can go is with an automatic trans.I am going to see if Johns cars can answer a few more questions. The reason I would like to go this way is because there are so many arond and with fairly low mileage.I am looking at a supercharged 3800 and I have to consider all the variables.I have a source who knows about what trannies and bellhousings work when I find out I will post that info.Do you guys think this would be easier than going to a rover engine? Thanks John.

Re: 3.8 front wheel dr buick
I am using the 3.8 L67 supercharged engine for my TR6 project. The T5 transmission and bell housing are from a 99 Camaro V6 and bolts directly to the 1999 3.8
Here is a link to my build. [forum.britishv8.org] |

Hey Mark I got some info from John's cars but it doesn't go past the late 80's.From other sources like yourself I am sure i can use the fr wheel dr 3.8. I am curious to know what clutch and pressure plate you are using with the t5 tranny? Thanks John.

Re: 3.8 front wheel dr buick
John, The 97-2000 Camaro came with a RWD 3800 V6 and T5 manual transmission. The FWD and RWD 3800 blocks are the same so I am using the clutch, pressure plate, hydraulic throw out bearing and T5 Transmission from a the 99 Camaro V6. The L67 supercharged engine that I am using is from a 99 Olds LS. If you have any more question let me know.
