TR-8 Rear Disk Brakes
Does some one have a pattern for mounting rear Disks on to the OE diff housing of an 80-82 TR-8???? I would like to install four puck calipers on the front & the same with parking brake on the rear while using my stock 13 inch wheels if possible on my convertible.

Re: TR-8 Rear Disk Brakes
The issue is that most calipers will hit the stock rim. The princess 4 piston calipers fit after some grinding/machining. The rear you could make a bracket and mount the same caliper as the princess front but you would have to do a hydraulic hand brake which is not legal in some states and countries. The original rally cars used upgraded front and rear discs but those parts are unobtainium. Your stuck with princess calipers front and same as mentioned before unless you go to an aftermarket 13" rim.

Re: TR-8 Rear Disk Brakes
There is a forum site dedicated to TR7's & 8's that has lots of info on rear brake conversions. (www.forum.triumphtr7.com)
If you do a search on rear disks, there are lots of threads on how to do it. e.g. [www.forum.triumphtr7.com] Though, as Mike says there are few if any options that will enable you to fit rear disks and calipers under the stock 13" rims. Regards, Martin |
Re: TR-8 Rear Disk Brakes
I just snagged a rear disc setup off a 95 Mustang that has the integral parking brake inside the caliper. Haven't gotten around to making it work yet, but at least it looks like a good cheap starting point.
