Axle specs: Spitfire, Bugeye, etc.
I'm looking for a donor axle to adapt to my lawnmower, something with a small ring gear. I thought the Spit axle might work. Was one ever produced with about a 5:13 ratio? What was the ring gear diameter?

Hey Jim,
What about something from one of the KEI trucks? They have some pretty steep ratios and some even have a diff lock. Cheers Fred |

Ring gear size is 7" with 10 bolts and a 5.09 ratio. Suzuki used a 6.9" ring gear and a 5.12 gear which might work. But it's a banjo style so the pinion offset might be different. Not familiar with KEI.

KEI is the generic term for all those right hand drive Japanese micro trucks.
They fold up nicely on impact so should be able to find a few in the wrecking yards. |
