TR6 + Skyline
This looks a nice job, although personally I'd prefer a more trad interior.
But what a clean engine installation... just missing a couple of cylinders :} Can well believe the reported cost. A bargain for someone. [www.ebay.com] Not mine. Ivor |

Re: TR6 + Skyline
Now you mention it, yes, I recall seeing it a while ago, described in great detail by Schraders themselves I think?
Wonder why it's not sold... perhaps it comes down to the fact that even in the US there's a very limited market for modified cars, or at least foreign cars. And with just 71 miles in it, there are all those shakedown problems still to come... and if it's been sitting, the brakes will be on the way to seizing up... hmmm... but it certainly does look like a nice piece of work. Re: TR6 + Skyline
Looks great in the few photos the seller has provided. The seller is not the owner and has a limited feedback. For a car that has a, quote, custom front suspension, custom engine intake and exhaust, I think more photos and documentation would be warrented. Also, a video of it running and driving would help. He says:(seems to have more camber on the left than right),
Definitely would need to see it before bidding on it. It's in L.A. |
Re: TR6 + Skyline
What gets me is that the people that enter into these projects seem to have so little common sense. A while back a shop was trying to sell a heavily modified Sunbeam Tiger with a 427 in it, they claimed they had sunk $98000 into it and were looking for this amount. The highest bid was around $48000. Who are these people that get shops to spend a fortune on building these cars then never drive them and put them up for sale?
I am doing practically everything on my car and I analyze every purchase and still this car is costing me more than I estimated. I can see why "ratrods" are popular! In this day of economic uncertainty one has to be very careful on what you invest in. The US economy is a house of cards and will someday collapse and it will affect the whole world. I see a day coming when there will be a lot of very expensive hot rods, muscle cars, etc that will sell for a pittance, it will be a buyers market if one has the money. Cheers Byron |

Re: TR6 + Skyline
Well Byron, without getting too deeply about predicting anything economically, I think we build or have people build these cars to make us happy, (stating the obvious). And some people have a lot of disposable cash to do it with. Good on them since it keeps the builders employed.
It's always cheaper to buy someone elses car but that car is seldom exactly what you want. That's want, not need. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/06/2014 09:56AM by Moderator. |

Re: TR6 + Skyline
Someone should have put together a "How It Was Done" article. It costs nothing to do so. It's free advertising. It lends credibility to the build.
Instead, we're looking at a handful of crappy out-of-focus photos on eBay. This car's build could be as shoddy and half hearted as the ad. Who knows? We're told it needs front end alignment. Obviously, the wipers don't park properly. I guess "in just finished condition" means it hasn't been shaken down and debugged. If this car is worth $32,000, it ought to be worth someone's time to fix the obvious problems and to prepare a better ad. |

Re: TR6 + Skyline
$45k?
Huh. Wasn't it listed at $30k when it first appeared? And know what the top bid was last time? $17k. Wonder what language the original ad was written in. Perhaps Japanese? Google Translate has done its best, but...... :} Anyway, time it found a home. Ivor |
