Great to see there is a message board. Also glad the 2008 meeting is in Wisc. which is closer to home for me. Hope I can be a help on the board, my car doesn't really fit other groups.

Ed, I think we are all new members here!!

I dunno Ed, that exclusionary attitude from other Triumph clubs is probably changing. You do after all, still own a Triumph, probably drink lots of beer, and like to talk Triumphs? The staunch "purists" are fading into the woodwork and more people are appreciating a really great conversion.
I mean, take a look at the photos of owners on this list. Some of these cars show better than many concours original cars at shows and the owners actually drive them too!!

It is kind of difficult though bask in the glory of blowing away an American muscle car in your TR6 when you have bolted in Detroit Iron under the hood.

So just consider that you probably have the best of both sides of the pond, raw bhp and great British (Italian) styling!

Look for changes at a lot of the Triumph clubs in the next few years ...

I don't want to wait on hearing about that Pontiac V8. Tell us about it, Ed. What's it out of, what's it built up with, how'd you get such a big motor in a TR6?

I've got a 215 in mine. British body with an American V8 rumble is all this driver needs.

My TR6 is almost all custom made. The front suspension uses the a-arms and rack from my TR all attached to a new chassis.
The wheel base was increased from 88" to 102" to make the car safer at high speeds. doors were stretched 8" and the rear wheel openings were moved back 6"
The engine was a 0.030" over 455 the new one is a 0.030" over 400 4.15" bore with a 4.5" stroker crank, 487 CI
Edelbroock heads,ross pistons, eagle rods and a forged Scat crank. 8 to 1 compression.
A CSU modified holley 850 and a CSU carb hat.
A T6 frame Garret TV75 turbo with a T88 compressor wheel.
A home made 2.5 " stainless exhaust system with 2 wastegates feeds the turbo and a 5" downpipe takes care of the exhaust.
A reverse pattern manual valve body T400 with a trans brake coupled by a 9.5" PTC converter sends the power to a 9" Ford with a Detroit locker and a 3.00 to 1 gear.
The rear suspension is a heims ended 4 link, with a wishbone and anti-roll bar.

So you are telling us you could not get all this to fit neatly under the hood then??, and that the doors and roll up windows don't function?

Any idea of the dyno specs for bhp and torque??

You really must tell us the story behind the cartoon. Now I understand the cartoon graphic .. "who is the clown driving that TR6?"!!

Do you in a helmet fit under that roll bar?

A 3:1 diff!?! egads man, what type of top end are you going to have at redline? You DO have a parachute?!?!

To answer a few questions.
The doors are bolted to the cage and don't open, but the steering wheel comes off so getting in and out is easy. There wouldn't have been enought room on the inside of the doors for all the bars and myself. The cage is a bit low with my helmet on but I still get thru tech at the drag strip. The chassis is certified to 8.50 seconds.
With my bald head and sometimes longer curly hair I have heard the term BOZO more than once, so I had a local artist draw up a picture, I think he captured a true likeness of he driver. LOL
The car has been fighting me a bit since the turbo install and I haven't made a full 1/4 pass yet. Best so far was a 6.02 at 120 mph in the 1/8 and it coasted to a 9.47 at 125 mph.
Playing around on the street with the boost at 18 PSI the car pulls way harder than it did at the strip with about 14 PSI. Still sorting things out but I am hoping to keep turning it up a little at a time, The turbo should support about 1300 HP and the new engine should be good to at least 1100 HP so depending on converted slip it should go about 170 mph at 6000 rpm, don't know if I want to go that fast or how the car will handle but I have been near 150mph and things weren't to bad.

I drive the car on the street most weekends and some nice days during the week, I have a two sided fuel cell and drive around on pump gas, but switch to race gas when running the car hard.

A road course sounds like a blast, I plan to get a second set of wheels and tires, but with the narrow rear shock spacing I know my car would be slow in the corners but look out on the straights.

Be cool to see some more turbo v8 LBC's
