Spitfire windshield pillar/frame question

A question for the Late model (mk 4 & 1500) spitfire guru's. I am getting ready to reassemble my cars bodywork but I am confussed on the trim and seals that go on the windscreen frame and pillars. When I got the car much of this was missing or in bad shape. I see where the vinyl goes on the insides of the frame. It is the window seals in the pillar that has me wondering. I see some cars have the door seal extended right up the pillar. Some seem to have a seperate "P" shaped seal glued on and some of the parts catalogs show a molded rubber section or a seal and rain gutter piece. I assume some of the seals are appropiate for the hard top and some for a rag top, but which is for what? If you know what is correct or have a good picture please let me know. Thanks.

Tim,

I believe you have it right. There will be one seal that will start at the back of the door area all the way around to the top of your windshield. That one will grip on the metal strip thats there. The P seal will be glued to your windshield rail between the main seal and windshield rail to seal your door window when closed. There are setup just like a TR6.

Sugest you check out a site like Rimmer Bros and look at the parts diagrams for spitfire seals. They will show you what goes where [www.rimmerbros.co.uk]

Hi Tim,

Just been in the garage doing some work on my Spit so I took a couple of photo's for you.

The P shaped seal has to be glued to the rear facing part of the Screen frame and then the door seal pushed over the lip that points backwards.
Hope that makes sense!

In one of the photo's I have pulled the door seal off the lip so you can see the P shaped seal beneath a bit better.

Hope these help
