1300 cc and gearbox - Price?

Can anyone help me finding a price for 1300 engine (re-con) and 4-gearbox (re-con) from Mk3?
It is in good condition and still in the car, which is used on a daily basis.
Where is the best place to sell it? E-bay? Or here?
Thanks

the problem is there are probably not many if any of us here from iceland and allot of people dont like to buy out of country
In general ebay can be a good place to sell and triumph experience forum as well as N.A.S.S. get lots of spitfire traffic

Ok, thanks I understand, no problem.
But I was primarily searching for info on WHAT PRICE I could expect to get for the engine+gearbox.

the problem with that is we are not familiar with the market in Iceland and chances are it would cost too much to ship to make it feasable to usa or europe
Here is probably one of the worst places to sell since we are also removing stock engines for swaps
Triumph experience is probably your best bet

When I pulled my engine and transmission for the V6 swap I listed it on Craigslist and it sold in two days. I only asked $200 for it as I wanted it out of the way. I've seen them listed for as much as $1000 for the motor only.

The gear box isn't worth much in the US, just too common, same with the engine for the most part. The guys that are racing Spitfires might want the 1300cc block and head, the dual SU intake and carbs are probalby worth more than the rest, should be able to get between $250 an $300 on US E-bay for the setup as a conversion for later Spitfires and MG Midgets. Don't know what the market value in Iceland would be and shipping would really up the cost here in the US or Canada, so basically the engine and trans aren't worth the expense to ship here unless you find a racer that really needs a 1300 block.

Markus, if this stuff is in Iceland you'll probably want to part it vs. try and sell it complete. Shipping a complete motor would probably cost more than it'd be worth. But, if you split it up and sell things like a bare cylinder head, the rocker assembly, the cam, the crankshaft, the heater valve, water pump, even things like the thermostat housing cover, the shipping on those things would probably be reasonable -. And you'd likely get more out of it than if you were able to sell it complete.

If you have a son (or daughter who's interested for that matter), having them do the disassembly is also a great way for them to start to understand how things work. I've done that with my older son & split the proceeds with him as a reward for the work.
