ford 5.0 fuel pump

has anyone been able to run a manual fuel pump on the ford motors or does it interfere with the steering linkage? i'm in the process of getting things together to rebuild the gt-40p 5.0 & was curious what everyone was doing. i'll be going to the early style timing cover to use the standard rotation water pump/v-belt setup so now would be the time to add the fuel pump eccentric if manual pumps are feasible.

also, are most using the early front sump oil pans? i would like to go as shallow as i can with the pan to get the engine low to accomodate the EFI should i ever decide to reinstall it.

thanks!

I went electric. There is not much room up front.
