Does anyone know the reason later model Miata seats -like 2003 or 2004- aren't recommended for the TR6?

I had Miata seats in my TR6 but I do not remember the year for them. My guess is that the 03 / 04 seats are to wide in the area of the seat that needs to clear the convertible top mechanism when the top is down. That is the problem I had with some of the seats I looked at. I now have aluminum racing seats which are not good road car seats.

Dale's correct. I bought the 2004 model seats not realizing how much wider there are at the top. I ended up reworking my convertible top mechanism to make it clear
