Thanks TR8 Paul, and others.
The one in NH looks like I am looking for except it has the Rover V8.
The red in Ga really is beautiful but looks like it is set up for drag or road racing. The price is up there and probably worth it but a little high for me.

Ebay, not a TR250, it's a TR4A, but would be a short project clean up.

TR4A.
Ahh, now that's really nice.
If you don't go for that you may as well give up.

Looks almost standard, in and out, big plus point. The white piping subtly lifts the interior.
Even as a former TR6 owner, I prefer the Michelotti body to the Karmann.
Again, it has the benefit of the boot not being full of fuel cell. No silly roll cage. No huge wheels. And the Surrey top. A real looker.

The seller is a man of few words, one might like to know more about the build but wth. The engine appears to have some miles on kit, so presumably any issues have been shaken out.

Urrgh, I really need not to buy this. Get thee behind me.
Oops, I just bid.

Depending on price, that could be a good one. Looks solid and straight from the pics. Definitely worth getting more info and inspecting. Seller has his phone number in the description.

Thanks Don on the TR4A.
The seller is a car saleman & doesn't know much about the car. Doesn't know which Rover engine or transmission is in the car. Did say that the front disk brake caliper were sticking. Also said other than that it drove ok.
It does look like it was converted many years ago or sat for a long time to get the engine compartment that like it does.
Al is suppose to send me more pictures of the underside (front to back) and under the hood.
Was the wire spokes wheels prone to problems?

Rover?
I'd bet it's a P6.
215.
And the trans will be a BW65.

So here's the potential problem. Unless it has a non-Triumph rear end, at best it has a 3.54 diff. The BW is a non-o/d trans, so that gives about 20mph/1000, which is pretty miserable on the highway.
If it has an R200 which I'm betting it doesn't, that has the same diff ratio.

Possible to change the box. Or the rear end. If one wants the work.

Ask him to drive the car, note the revs at 40mph.
Needs to be going 40mph or more before the torque convertor locks up, so below that speed the mph/revs won't tell you anything.
If the speedo or rev counter aren't connected that in itself says something (negative) about the build.

But it does look a beauty. May be OK for you if you mainly want to do local drives.
And changing the box is a lot less work than undoing someone's body mods, or sorting out a car that's just been built and not shaken down.

Edit: The wire wheels need polishing. That's enough problem for me.
More practically, the splines can wear, especially on the rear. Then they clonk when the drive changes.
And they need tubes.
And the spokes can get loose but probably won't.
They're great, on someone else's car :}
But again, you can always change them. Some polisher will buy them from you.

Ivor

Rover V8 engine number, is on the left side of the block just by the dipstick tube.
Then you can look here [www.v8register.net] and see what it is.

Chrome wire wheels once rusted don't polish. I just changed an automatic TR8 to a 5 speed, lots of work and time. The NH TR6 with the 215 has the right transmission, a T5 and looks well sorted except the finish on the engine compartment not to my taste, easy fixed. Here is a picture of the engine on my TR8.

A possible rebuild project. Was converted to a 350, but now no motor or trany!

Thanks Don,
I love the seller last line.
"Save some money on restoring your TR6, when this one all it needs is your engine and transmission."
Rust in one door then a couple of years, rust in other door, kinda turn me off.

I am still looking.

And not much description. He has no idea, really.

The TR4 is better looking than the 6 imho, and I say that as a past 6 owner.
Other than the bumpers having been replaced by silly wotsits, looks pretty good.

Looks good but lack of pictures and information about the build is lacking.
I have requested needed pictures and information.
He is close enough to drive down to look at the car.
Thanks, Don
George's TR6 is up to $19500.00 with 1 day left.

Just my luck, the ebay TR4 disappeared. I sent him 4 messages and no reply to any of them.
Guess I pi$$ him off. Could find the car in closed auctions either.

Geroge's TR6 sold for $22,500 on BaT site.

Oh well, guess it was just not meant to be.
Don are you ready yet to sell me yours?

Until you find this unicorn of a perfect V8, how about this with a blower, 5-speed and forty years' history?

Thanks, 88V8.
Now that is different.
I am sure that someone know if a single carb can supply enough fuel under boost.
This is the same color as my 74 TR6. They are estimating 140 HP.

Tomball is about 30-40 minutes from me. I was going to offer to have a look, but eBay says the listing "ended". Not sure if that means it's been sold or listing expired or what. If you want to reach out to the seller & it's still available, I *might* be able to check it out tomorrow or early Saturday. After that it'd have to be sometime the following week as my schedule is jam packed with work & getting things ready for a major surgery (& subsequent recovery @ our house) for one of my sons.
