Austin Healey 3000 radiator value?
If i were to sell the radiator from my AH3000, what is it worth? It leaks from the bottom of the top tank...

Re: Austin Healey 3000 radiator value?
Radiators can be repaired. New cores can be installed. So the leak might not be expensive to fix.
But would your radiator suit a stock 3000 or just a hot-rodded one? In your avatar, it appears that your top hose port has been relocated to the wrong side. When I originally built my MG I used its stock radiator but I soldered in oversized ports and I swapped them from side to side, making that old radiator useless to someone with a stock engine. |

Curtis is right, your inlet has been changed from stock Healey. I think you'll have a hard time selling it.

Re: Austin Healey 3000 radiator value?
Dang! alright.... thanks for heads up on that... shoulda payed more attention to it...
I want a lower profile 3 or 4 core radiator. something that doesnt come up so high, but can handle more volume than the current radiaitor. This engine had real bad cooling issues before i tore it down. prolly have to have one made... |

Call Summit or Jegs - they can probably find you one based off the measurements that worst case would need the inlet &/or outlet moved. Still less money than a fully custom made one.

Re: Austin Healey 3000 radiator value?
Rob,
I don't think there's going to be much available off the shelf. The space available for a radiator in the Healey is pretty minimal (about 18 in wide IIRC) and the steering shaft and box prevents installing something wider. Additionally, the steering cross tube is located in such a manner that limits the size of the lower tank that will fit. I tried to install one of the 65-66 Mustang 5.0 conversion radiators in my car and just couldn't make it fit. I think a lot of the Healey guys with big radiators have only been able to accomplish this by converting to rack and pinion steering to get the extra needed room. |

Re: Austin Healey 3000 radiator value?
Cross flow radiators... e.g., radiators with their tanks on the sides instead of the top & bottom. The water then runs side to side instead of top to bottom. Net is if you find an off the shelf radiator that fits, even if turned on it's side, you can make it work by having a radiator shop move the inlet, outlet, and/or filler to where you need them.
