Engine/gearbox switch for a 63' Sprite

I've been restoring my 63'Sprite with a running 1098 engine and a bad ribbed cage gearbox (no reverse gear) . I've come across a 74' Midget donor car with a newly rebuilt 1500 and gearbox for $800. I'd like to move the 1500 to my 63' and am wondering if this would be possible with a minimum of modifications. Any assistance or advise would be appreciated. Thanks

I would guess it would be an easy swap. The body for the 1500 engine cars are the same as the 948 thru 1275 cars. If you use the 1500 specific parts such as motor mounts and driveshaft it should be easy. The 1500 does not have a great reputation as a reliable engine. I think a mild 1275 engine would prove reliable and plenty powerful for that application.
