Re: 327 Healey Jamaican headers question
If you're already running ramshorn manifolds, you may not see a lot of gain switching to headers. Google ramshorn vs. headers to see what I mean. Speedway sells their own cast iron manifolds they say equal tube types: [www.speedwaymotors.com] might be a lot easier than trying to figure out a new system.

Re: 327 Healey Jamaican headers question
Thanks Rick, good reading.
Yes, it has factory rams horn iron manifolds. For my level of power it'll be fine for a while. I sure have very little room for headers on the Chevy. Do you not have a little more room with the Ford? How are you thinking of working out your exhaust? Chris... |

Re: 327 Healey Jamaican headers question
Hi Chris,
My issue is my motor dynoed at 345 hp at the crank and with no other changes 199 at the wheels. Even taking into account parasitic losses of 20%, I should be seeing another 75 - 80 hp at the wheels. The only way I can see losing that power is through the Sunbeam Tiger cast iron manifolds and my exhaust that has a few 90 degree bends. I found a pair of block hugger headers at Summit that look like they might work. In the spring, I'll pull my engine and see what footwell clearance I'll need to make in order to try and fit the headers. I'll let you know how it goes. |

Re: 327 Healey Jamaican headers question
Wow, that's a lot of work but can see it would be worth it for a gain of that much power! Still no heat in the garage?

Re: 327 Healey Jamaican headers question
I can either pay to put heat in the garage or spend some time in Hawaii. Aloha!
