Jensen Healey + 302
Copper.
We like copper. It can be polished. Plenty of polishing potential in this roadster, where some ingenuity has been exercised in dealing with water transfer whilst shoehorning a 302 mostly under the bonnet. Mostly. Yes, that is the dizzie glamorously peeping out. OK so long as it doesn't rain. So here's the engine And in the well photographed gallery there's more plumbing to be seen. Never mind. It's all done, and at $12,500 what's not to like. The 302 is said to be a 4-valve, and it has a 5-speed. Get in and go. Until it rains. [www.hemmings.com] Ivor |

Re: Jensen Healey + 302
I believe the old 302 CID V8 also had the decal on air cleaner 302-4V to denote a 4 bbl. Carb. same a a 2 bbl. 302-2V. Been a long time since I touched a Carb. This in not a Keto diet rant :-)

Re: Jensen Healey + 302
A pretty good start but the windscreen could be about 3-4 inches shorter in my opinion and something needs to be done with the engine cover

Re: Jensen Healey + 302
Looking at the underside pictures, I don't understand why he couldn't have gotten the engine under the hood. Some work on the crossmember and a change in the oil pan looks like it would have done the trick. Laziness leads to butchery in the engine swapping world. I agree on the windshield, wonder why he didn't use the stock one?

Re: Jensen Healey + 302
A "frameless" windshield in a street vehicle seems risky ? JH windshield frame bolts-on, so tilt is very doable.

Re: Jensen Healey + 302
Seems like it needs sidepipes to complete the cobra look. Would have helped with the clearance underneath, also the engine looks like it could go back quite a bit closer to the firewall. I've gone back and forth on the luggage rack on the trunk, not sure it looks right on that car.

Re: Jensen Healey + 302
I don't understand the coolant outlet going over, under and around to get to the top inlet on the radiator.
I don't care for copper fittings in a cooling system with at least an aluminum intake manifold and radiator. Frequent coolant changes may prevent issues, but I personally wouldn't be willing to chance it. The oil filter arrangement isn't very creative either. With all the effort involved, why were rust issues not addressed? I must quit being so nit-picky, my execution isn't world class either! Dennis |

I don't think anyone commented on the tranny cross member, What is that. He may as well have glued Popsicle sticks together. I don't know, I wouldn't have used that choice of metal.

Re: Jensen Healey + 302
150 mph. car with "frameless" windshield/etc. Ran out of copper for a frame ?
"Grasshopper" ignition or "Bird Strike" ? What could possibly go wrong ? Orig. JH windshield, bolts on, so angle change is pretty basic. Art. |

Re: Jensen Healey + 302
Copper and alloy... good point. Never thought of that. I have copper pipes to the heater on my Rover V8, and an alloy intake. Mind you, radiators and heater elements used to be copper.
As you say, frequent inhibitor changes !! Ivor |
