Front suspension?!
I've across something with my 62 healey and can't figure it out to save my life. Appearantly it has an aftermarket suspension on it. I know the Austins have a strange suspension set up to boot, but mine has another addition to it: It has regular newer style piston shocks in addition to the lever shocks.
My question is: A) has anyone seen this? and B) where can i get replacements for it? i'll add foto's as soon as get home tonight. |

Re: Front suspension?!
Koni used to make a tube front shock conversion. If the shocks are reddish-orange it could be the Koni set-up. Otherwise, its probably a home brew and your best bet is to take the shock to your local NAPA and see if they can source a replacement.

Here's a link to a home made version: [modifiedhealeys.org] There are some part #s written on the shocks if you look closely.

Re: Front suspension?!
I believe a number of companies have marketed telescoping front shock conversion kits for MGB (many, many years), so it'd surprise me if they haven't been available for Healeys too.
These two photos show the Spax version: (There are probably more photos of similar kits in the gallery section.) |
