Hello all.

I've been reading the numerous posts about Toyota 5speed trans with RV8s on the net but I'm wondering if anyone here has knowledge of the toyota v161 6spd being used with the RV8, specifically in a TR78 V8 mod.

My research has indicated that this is a verrrry strong trans capable of 1000hp+. (Not going nearly that far). And, I understand that it is one of the smoothest shifting trans out there.

Will v161 be difficult to mate to a Rover V8 and drive shaft and mount?

How does it compare to a T56?

T56s seem to be everywhere (also used in the Aston Martin, Viper, new Camaro) and I've read tonnes of posts here using this trans so I know that it's easily doable and adapter stuff is readily available. Lots of amazing knowledge on BritishV8.

Is the T56 smoothe shifting?

I know it's also strong.

Any feedback would be very helpful.

Thank you

Trip
