Re: Strange Bedfellows...
Greg, You must admit, it does look like a Tarantula ? While your cross referencing, how bout what hi-flowing cylinder heads, in aluminum, with 4.25" bore centers ? Cheers, roverman.

Re: Strange Bedfellows...
Interesting, I believe RR even uses GM transmissions (4L80E) on some models.

Re: Strange Bedfellows...
Yep they use gm trannys for sure. Used to have an old Bentley R turbo with the good old turbo 400 in it. And I work on a number of 70s and 80s RRs that have the 400 in them as well. Probably makes sense for them to use the chevy pattern and avoid casting a new case for such a low volume.
What doesn't make sense to me is the use of the Delco "fail-o-matic" alternator. Maybe a spare comes in the drivers kit along with the coveralls and white gloves. Cheers Fred |

Re: Strange Bedfellows...
I kept looking at this engine because it looks so .........something.
Then it hit me. The cyl heads look exactly like Saab heads. And the block looks like the aluminum ZR1 engine. The throttle body is old Cadillac. Were RR dumpster diving at GM? Cheers Fred |

Re: Strange Bedfellows...
Fred, You'd get even MORE bussiness with a Lucas, "Smoke-a-matic" alternator !

Re: Strange Bedfellows...
Art,
I have enough business with the Jatco/Vw/Audi slip-tronic trans that they use in the Freelander. It's so bad that they don't even bother to put the smoke in at the factory. Cheers Fred |
