Nic, I would use a flange on alum. liner, to make a better sandwich. Consider the "tractor" sleeve with piano wire on (1) block. If you can live with a "puny" 3.9" bore and "hemi" pistons ?? roverman.

LOL. I'm thinking the 3.9" bore is a good idea. I'm meeting with the machine shop tomorrow to start gouging out the cast bores. FUN!

Mike ol' chum, at least you didn't get in any "trouble" with your machinist. You didn't tell us jack, but inspite of that, perhaps inadvertantly, you inspired us to push the, "bore envelope" ! Tractor sleeves, piano wire, LS pistons and Honda rods. Where this is all goin- who knows, but at least it's not "boring". roverman.

Hey Team. I've been stalled out because a couple main caps were missing. They are supposed to be here by Tues. In the meantime the blocks are being sonically tested for thickness. I'll report something as soon as I can.

Just add some humor to this thread the cam came in and the grind is "wierdo" marked on the end of the cam. I really wonder about the guys who get orders in for some very specific requests. We now have the cam and can complete the assembly and dyno time!

Dude. I am absolutely certain that my stuff is marked that at my machine shop too. LOL! On the other hand, a couple of the machinists are pretty geared up to work on some of my ideas. Usually they are buried in the same ol' SBC stuff. Over and over.

Looks good Mike. Is that getting a set of 340 heads?

Dont know yet.....Tim is on the fence about it. If thing holds together its gonna rock! This is truely and experiment! We are after RPMs since it is an oversquared bore to stroke arrangement.

Mike, did you guys make your own girdle plate, or buy one somewhere? That's on my list of to-do items for the 340. Obviously the dimensions are a little different but in many ways similar.

JB

It was machined as a one off.

Looks like a 4.0/4.6 block but it's got a cam from an earlier engine.

Impressive machining to squeeze a 4" bore from that little block.

Interesting little spigots coming out of the front freeze plugs. Wild engine block.

Dude. I'm super keyed up to see how it turns out. Way to go, Man.

Did you guys use drawings for the girdle? That would be useful to me if you're willing to share.

Nic, I will look into and see if he can make more plates. I can't remember if it is steel or aircraft aluminum?

Re: 4.020-inch Bore/ thanks Mike, you have a nice girdle !

Water Jet is the best way in steel or alum. At 1/3 the weight, you know my choice. Thicker alum. will ad much needed, flexure strength, in the vertical plane. Stepped studs on the pan rail= more strength. I'd loose the stock oil port. Pictured girdle will probably "hit" a 350 crank. Put the oil pick-up in a bulkhead, in side of pan. roverman.

No joke, the engine was fired up and running for about 30 minutes.
