Buick 4.1L V6 ?

We don't hear much , on this forum-but ? It's 4.24" shorter than the RV8, with lots hop-up parts available. 3.965" symese bore/stronger,should go 4.0". 3.625 stroke available, with a high quality forged crank. That's 273", with under 20" OAL. ! BH bolt pattern is common BOP. Most of the Stage II racing parts fit, and are usually a bargain. Discussion ? Cheers, roverman.

It's a good strong motor, comes with a 4 bbl intake and I believe it has taller intake ports as well. Lots of power parts available.

I thought about the 4.1 with a 231 oddfire crank years ago for my Jeep. Found in Cadillacs also.

Jim, Why the oddfire crank ? I plan my 273", with stage II heads/int and moderate roller cam, going into transverse/mid-engine,(MR2 t-axle), Porsche 914. I wish there were more "mid" lbc's.

there was a 166ci stage 2 midget engine on ebay the same time I bought the weber induction for my 231ci Buick. It had a lot of magnesium, dry sump and individual port fuel injection with all the pumps and drives for less than $4000. I think the guy that bought it hangs out on the turbo buick forum and it is for sale. A power figure was stated in the 350 range at 10-11,000 rpm. There are complete Bush Lite engines for sale from time to time which are NA stage 2 motors in the 600 hp range. Don't remember prices but seems like under 10 grand. For me deception is everything and a Buick V6 sounds like what most people think a stock British sports car should sound like. I don't like hood blisters and scoops. Its just more satisfying to take the doors off a Corvette when he thinks he'll show this stock TR3 a thing or two. I also thought a 166ci 4 cylinder midget engine would be fun too or better yet a Offy but it'll take most of the spare cash just to build my stock block 231 this winter. Keep us posted.

Art, I put about 300,000 miles on 64 225 in a Buick Special. It was rebuilt at about 200,000. I had a 76 oddfire 231 in a CJ5 before I put a 215 in it. They get a bad rap for roughness. I did use Buick 350 rubber mounts in the Jeep though. My brother was a GM mechanic and one day he had a even fire crank on the bench next to an oddfire. That split pin crank kind of scares me, I know they have put a lot of power through them, maybe its just a phobia I have. Back when Kenne-Bell were the Buick guys I had a cam from them and a Offy intake,400AFB,Jeep headers with header mufflers. I put the motor out of the Jeep in the Buick Special and probably put 200,000 on it before I sold it. I did have the 82 and up High Port heads. It felt snappier than the stock 300 2 barrel in my 65 Skylark.

Jim and clan, "RPM" imports/finishes a nice 4340 forged crank. At $500., I consider it a good value, for all the hp/rpm., it will live with. Plan is to make 400+ hp., reliably. 914 stock = 80hp. 400hp.= fun, fun, fun. Cheers, roverman.
