Engine Mounts
I have not been able to find a source for the engine mounts pictured below. They seem pretty common in the builds on BritishV8. I understand the metal is custom fabbed, I am just looking for the rubber portion.
This will be on a Ford Explorer 302 swap into a MGB GT. Looking for a smooth street ride, not racing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Re: Engine Mounts
That looks like the one. Is this a good choice, for vibration control, longevity, etc... Or is there a better mousetrap out there?

Re: Engine Mounts
You're looking for an industrial style two-piece mount with a steel bushing bonded into one half. - You won't be able to torque your mounting bolt to spec without that bushing. - The other half of the mount is just a donut shape (similar to what Carl linked to.)
From memory,I think the two main suppliers are Lord and Barry Controls. Quick Google search found these references: [www.lord.com] [www.novibration.com] [www.novibration.com] The mounts I used were given to me by a Barry sales rep. They were the same mounts we used on Volvo Truck's "WG" model for mounting the combined radiator/intercooler assembly. Somewhere deep in my files I may have a Volvo Trucks part number. But if you pick a Lord or Barry part number and Google, you should find lots of online sources. Companies like Grainger or McMaster-Carr... Or, I expect you could call Fast Cars Inc and either buy mounts through them or else ask them to advise their source... |

Re: Engine Mounts
Check out Speedway motors.
Look under "street rod motor mount" for all the mounting goodness that you can handle. The specific # that you are looking for is 7209314. But there are so many options that you might find a better fit with something else. Live like you mean it. Fred |

Re: Engine Mounts
Like Fred said, SPEEDWAY MOTORS. That is the vendor I used in 2004. Only the price has changed :-).

Re: Engine Mounts
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The Lord mounts look like a more elegant solution, but would require a fair amount of understanding to select the correct mount from the extensive list.
Alternatively, the Speedway mount is simple, just order it. But maybe not getting the best solution for this particular application. I suspect ordering from Fast Cars or Mantell is the best solution. I wasn't sure if they would sell such a small item given their sweeping product offering. Ill give them a call. |
