Starting problems V6
I am trying to get first start up on my V6 and have been trying to eliminate non start issues. I have a Todd Budde tank that is new but probably 6 years old bought off a stalled project.
My engine tries to start and runs for just a few seconds and then abruptly stops. Relay for the pump cycles and primes and then shuts off. On starting, pressure jumps up to about 45 lbs runs for a few seconds and dies. Car runs on starting fluid . When i jump the relay, pump runs and I get about 45 lbs or more I tested the injectors with a noid tester and all injectors appear to be getting power. What I notice that the fuel pressure doesn't hold. There is no signs of leaks in the system, the injectors are ebay specials there is no sign of fuel leaking externally. On Todd's tanks is there a check valve trying to figure out whether there could be a issue from the years sitting before used. I have removed the vacuum line to fuel regulator and there is no fuel in it. Is there anything else regulator related that could cause the pressure drop. The fuel rail was pretty gummed up, I cleaned it with carb cleaner and replaced injectors but have never opened up the regulator. At least 7 years since it has been started. Thanks, John |

Re: Starting problems V6
John,
So when you jumper the pump relay and get 45psi of fuel pressure, will the car run? If so, I stand by my previous claim of RPM signal. But it may not continue to run if ECU has no idea of RPM........ Mike |

Re: Starting problems V6
Most likely injectors are not firing but why then? Have you tested them with a DVM or light when trying to start? What ignition are you using and how does the rpm signal come into the ecu?
