I need help deciding what to build.

With my current engine in the Opel being bad I’ve been trying to decide what to build as a replacement. I have a buick 215, .030 over, clean block probably would be fine with just a fresh hone and new rings. Seems like my cheapest and easiest option but the pistons are dished and would result in low compression. I also have a 4.2 with a pitted cylinder wall, probably needs at least .020 over to clean up. What I really wanted to do was use the 4.2 block with my stroker crank(3.315”) and 305 pistons to build a 290 but I don’t want to get into custom length rods or pistons. I’m not hung up on getting the most cubic inches I just want a strong runner that uses off the shelve parts.

Does the ati damper work with a wet sump system? In the notes it says for dry sumo systems but it’s the only aftermarket damper I can find

Get different pistons for the 215 going to be apart to re-ring anyway, just a thought

I think if a damper is made to work with a dry sump it should work equally well with a wet sump. Can't imagine any reason why it wouldn't. But to be safe, have the rotating assembly balanced.

That’s what I was thinking but wasn’t confident

Also check with "Damper Dudes" for rebuilt units.

I believe I found and fixed my issue with getting water in the current engine, if it works out I won’t be building a new one for a while.
