I am beginning restoration of a 1971 Stag. Current powertrain components consist of Rover V8 3.9l and Triumph TR7 5 spd transmission. I need a bellhousing to join these two components. Any information on clutch mechanism and motor mounts would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a TR7 5-speed with a Rover V8. The bellhousing is V8 specific and what you need is either TR8 or Rover SD1 bellhousing. You might get lucky finding one s/h or you can get a reproduction from Rimmerbros.co.uk . Pricey though. You need other stuff too. Some clutch mechanism parts are the same in TR7 and TR8, some are different even if they look the same. Rimmers have excellent webpages with part numbers, highly recommended. Also, you can get their TR7/8 paper catalogue which is excellent. Its worth getting.
