215 to six speed
The machining of the gearbox bellhousing in automatic gearbox thread has got me thinking, Which in most cases is never a good thng!!,
In the corner of my workshop I have a low mileage Lexus IS200 6 speed manual gearbox, is it worth thinking about putting ths behind a RV8 as it has an integeral bellhousing it would need machining to get it to fit, probably graftng a BW style auto belhousing onto the lexus box, Does anybody know if this box is up to coping with 350hp+????? |

Re: 215 to six speed
Ian, my WAG. would be, if it's several pounds heavier than a Supra 5 spd, plus add ? for integral bh., it's probably equal to or stronger than Supra ? It may well be easier to cut-off integral bh. and back-adapt to Rover/Triumph bh. Good Luck, roverman.

Re: 215 to six speed
Gearbox was available in Europe, and after some searching, I have been told the box is not up to coping with 300+HP, BUT I have aso found out the later Lexus uses the same generic gearbox as the MazdaRX8 and HondaS2000, which I beleive to be a viable gearbox for conversion
