clutch question 70 mgb with 2.3 turbo ford motor
Im new to the forum and i'm in the middle of a custom job and need some help. I read somewhere and wrote it down at the time that to lighten up the flywheel and clutch assembly that you could use a 1.9 l ford escort flywheel clutch pp and the original t out bearing on a t-5 transmission so i ordered the kit and the spline is wrong for the clutch 1991 was the year that was specified i believe the borg warner trans is a world class. can a clutch be ordered for that shaft or will i have to go back to the original set up? was hoping to save some weight and allow it to turn up faster. motor should be making about 225 hp or so no more than 300 even with later mods. pilot bearing isnt the right size either

Re: clutch question 70 mgb with 2.3 turbo ford motor
I run a 2.3 turbo in a TR6. If you are not going to pump up the HP you might be OK with that clutch. If more HP is in your future I would stay with the stock stuff and go to an aluminum flywheel. 300 HP would require a performance clutch such as a dual friction Centerforce.

Educated guess, the European T5 fitted to TVRs, Morgans, And Seirra Cosworth, [Merkur] had a 23 spline input shaft, where the US domestic I beleive have a 10 spline input T5
Like I say its an educated guess as the European Pinto is different to the US pinto, the 2 litre is smaller in length than the 2.3, |
