First post.

Can someone tell me if MSD's Crank Trigger kit fits the Rover V8?

This ad lists Buick's but I believe all are the V6:

Many thanks.

Looks like that should work, but if you are going to consider efi any time in the future I'd suggest you consider fitting it with a 36-1 crank trigger which will give you 9 times as many position pulses per revolution for more accuracy. Some systems go much higher, but the 36-1 is a pretty cheap setup. However it does require you to find or make the trigger wheel and pick-up mount. For info, search this site and V8Buick for hits on trigger wheel and such terms.

Better read that Jegs ad again. The link you show is for a CHEVY V8. The ad says it fits 78-80 Buick because those cars came with the 305 Chevy motor factory installed.

Hey David, welcome to the forum!

I think Joe is right: although Buick V6 was standard equipment, as optional equipment Buick also installed Chevy V8's of various displacements in those years. However, I'd bet some company (maybe even MSD) makes a crank trigger kit for Buick V6, and in principle it might well be adaptable to Rover. Why not give MSD a phone call? Please let us know what you find out.

Ive got a TriggerWheels.com fitted to my serp Rv8, I have to machine a small land onto the back of the ballancer to locate the wheel, I also made it an interference fit so its shrunk on and retained with 2 or 3 tig weld tacks,
On my other engine, a 3.9 I made a alloy adapter ring that bolts onto the back of the ballancer and then machined to take the trigger wheel

4.6 engine.
