Quick help with dipstick housing
I bumped into the oil dipstick housing on my Ford 302 and it came out. Should I just degrease the hole, add silicone, and push it back in?
Thanks, George |

Re: Quick help with dipstick housing
If it's a plastic tube then the silicone would be fine I'd think. If it's a metal tube then what I've done in the past on several cars is to tin the end of the tube that goes in the block with some solder. That makes the diameter just a bit larger and then I can drive it carefully into the block and the solder will conform and seal the tube.
