The Rover SD1 mounts are not the same. You need TR8 ones. I have done a few conversions and have TR8s so anything you need advice on drop me a line. You can reuse a bunch of stuff from the 4 cylinder car.

You can reproduction mounts from TSI in Pandora Ohio or The Wedge Shop. Even try ebay. Now for what you can reuse....here we go:

-Clutch slave, master, and hose
-Subframe can be modified to mock a TR8
-Transmission, shifter, cross memeber and even the pivot arm, bolt and throw out bearing collar and speedo cable.
-Alternator by taking the case bolts out and turning the tab to the same position as a TR8 alternator.
-Wiring harness can be reused and all you have to do is shorten the positive cable and starter wired, exten the ignition wires and temp sender
-The 5-speed rear end can stay depending on the ratio it is a personal decision. You either have 3.45:1 or 3.90:1. Best all around rear end for the TR8 anyway is the TR7 3.45.
-The radiator can be reused but the inlet and out lets ar slightly small than the TR8 and it also is really close to the engine in the TR7 position.
-Temp sender is the same a s a TR8
-You will need a shortened drive shaft TR8 since the transmission will be further back in the car due to the V8.
-You can modify the tach for a V8 or get a TR8 tach

These are all basic cost saving items. The suspension is diffent as far as spring rates all around and front brakes. You will need to hook up an external electric fuel pump between the tank and the metal fuel line. You will keep the rest of the fuel line all the way up to the engine bay and just run a new rubber hose.

All you have to do is cut off the TR7s bottom mount and then get the dimensions of a stock TR8 subframe and make your own brackets. I have a drawing of it so really anyone with a welder can make one.......do I need to post the picture of the stock TR8 subframe?

thanks for all the info Mike ,,I have many pics of the tr8 subframe but most are at some degree of angle,,,is there any chance you could post the diagram you have ,,I checked out TSI site and enquired re tr8 eng mnt bkts ,,I actually imported from Robsport a b/housing and various other parts,,they are great to deal with if anyone needs parts as well,,I am still looking for l/f/wheel ,clutch kit ,radiator ,,( a Nissan R33 turbo alloy will fit and do the job ),,my tr7 is a 1978 5 x speed ,do you think it would have the 3.45 diif ratio.Cheers from Melbourne australia
